My research interests are in positive psychology approaches to dementia. By this, I mean I am interested in the character strengths or capabilities that people living with dementia use on a daily basis in order to live well with their diagnosis.

All of my research is built on this theoretical standpoint, and has included developing outcome measures of hopefulness, resilience, subjective independence and social engagement, and developing psychosocial interventions to support people with dementia and carers. Most recently, I was part of an international team that developed a brief educational course for family carers of people living with dementia.
​
My current work on the NOLA project builds on these areas. With academics at the University of Leicester, University College London and the University of Pelotas in Brazil, we are developing an intervention that is designed to help people living with dementia process and adapt to a newly given diagnosis.
